Bawku conflict: DCN Ghana calls for ceasefire and peace talks

The Democratic Credentials Network Ghana (DCN Ghana) is calling for an immediate ceasefire and return to negotiations to bring peace to the Bawku conflict.

In a press release dated April 12, 2025, the organization urged all parties involved to work towards a lasting peace.

“We call for all parties involved in the conflict to lay down their weapons and engage in a dialogue that finds peaceful resolution to avoid further violence,” the release stated.

DCN Ghana also appealed to law enforcement agencies deployed to the area to refrain from reprisal attacks, emphasizing the need for restraint in handling the situation.

The organization’s call for peace comes amid growing tensions between the Kusasis and Mamprusis, two ethnic groups embroiled in a long-standing chieftaincy dispute.

The conflict has claimed hundreds of lives and displaced thousands of people, with both sides suffering significant losses.
