After about three months of relative calm, Bawku has again returned back to its ugly state as a series of attacks recently have taken about four lives and left many others injured.
Two people were killed last week at different locations whilst two others were killed on Monday morning.
The two people who met their untimely death on Monday morning were traveling from Kumasi to the area, and upon reaching the Bawku township the bus was attacked.
The assailants shot and killed the driver and one passenger instantly and ordered the rest of the passengers to leave the bus and they quickly set it ablaze.
A heavy gun battle broke out in the Bawku township immediately after that incident on the Monday morning. Security agencies in the area took time to calm the situation down.
It is not clear what triggered the recent attacks but reports indicate it is in connection with the usual chieftaincy dispute in the area.
Serious conflict broke out in 2021 due to the dispute that existed between the Kusasi ethnic group and the Mamprusi side and has since not ended.
