Bawku: Massive operation to retrieve weapons underway after military officer is shot

A military officer was allegedly shot and injured by a combatant in Bawku, triggering a massive operation to retrieve weapons.

According to Metro TV sources, the incident occurred amidst clashes between the Mamprusis and Kusasis, with the military stationed at buffer zones to de-escalate the situation.

Metro TV sources revealed that the soldier was hit by a stray bullet allegedly from the Kusasis side.

A WhatsApp audio has been circulating, urging fellow Kusasis to be extra cautious due to the shooting.

The military has set up buffers in the Mamprusi area to prevent both sides from crossing into each other’s territories.

Unfortunately, the clashes have resulted in civilian casualties, with about eight recorded.

However, Metro TV sources warned against believing propaganda and fake news, citing an instance where combatants dropped their weapons into an incomplete house, which was then set on fire by soldiers to retrieve the guns.

The sources emphasized that 95% of information from Bawku is fake news, and that the gunmen’s allegiance can be determined by their geographical location.

The silence of the military despite previous attacks on their escorts has reportedly emboldened the Kusasi bandits, who are accused of shooting and killing immigration officers.
