Bawku Senior High School in northern Ghana is safe for students despite the ongoing conflict in the area, the headmaster has assured parents and guardians.
Rev. Abugbilla Bukari made the statement during a Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) meeting at the school, which is located on the outskirts of Bawku town.
The area has seen heavy gun battles between the Kusasi and Mamprusi communities since 2021, resulting in nearly 1,000 deaths and significant property damage. However, the school has not recorded any incidents related to the conflict.
During the PTA meeting, members donated a five-bedroom staff flat, 300 tables and chairs, two air conditioners, water facilities, and other items to support the school.
Abugri Haruna, Chairman of the PTA, noted that the school is in need of further assistance and appealed to former students and benevolent organizations to provide support.
