Bawumia cannot be trusted on the 10-year driver’s license renewal promise – Transport Operators

The Transport Operators of Ghana have dismissed Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia’s promise to extend driver’s license renewal to 10 years, calling it a “vote-buying gimmick”.

In a public notice, the operators said “We welcome the idea, but we don’t trust Bawumia.”

They cited previous unfulfilled promises, including electric vehicles for drivers and resolving penalty issues for roadworthy certificate renewals.

“Bawumia’s government has introduced taxes and increased fees, causing suffering for commercial drivers,” the statement read.

The operators accused Bawumia of deception, saying, “Once bitten, twice shy. We won’t fall for his tricks again.”

They demanded action on reducing fuel prices, license acquisition costs, and honoring previous pledges before considering new promises.

“Don’t be swayed by Bawumia’s promises,” they cautioned drivers.
