Former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo, founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission and the Kantanka Group of Companies. Apostle Safo passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the age of 77.
In a statement shared on his official Facebook page on Sunday, September 14, Dr. Bawumia described Apostle Safo as “a pioneering Ghanaian innovator” and “more than a religious leader,” praising his lifelong dedication to innovation, philanthropy, and national development.
“I have received with deep sadness the news of the passing of Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka,” the former Vice President wrote. “He was a titan of industry, a technological visionary, and a deeply spiritual man whose impact on Ghana will be felt for generations to come.”
Dr. Bawumia lauded Apostle Safo’s role in promoting indigenous technology through the Kantanka Group, a company known for designing and manufacturing automobiles, machinery, and other technological solutions within Ghana.
“Through the Kantanka brand, Apostle Safo proved that African ingenuity knows no bounds. He inspired a generation to believe in the power of local innovation and to dream beyond limitations,” Bawumia said.
Dr. Bawumia highlighted the Apostle’s extensive charitable work, noting that his support for the underprivileged touched countless lives across the country.“As a religious leader, his open arms received me. Anytime I called on him, I departed his presence with lasting words of encouragement and wisdom,” Bawumia added, recalling personal moments shared with the late Apostle.
