A leading member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Eric Amoako Twum has endorsed the candidature of Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

He believes the Second Gentleman is the best person to lead the country  after President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s tenure ends.

Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana on Wednesday morning, the government spokesperson said Dr. Bawumia is competent enough to be given the nod to lead the good people of Ghana.

”I have expressed and endorsed the Vice President the best candidate to lead, my reason is that apart from all the competencies that he brings to the table, I have always believed in a certain kind of generational leadership, we are in the cusp of the fourth industrial revolution and I believe strongly that it has to come from a certain leadership that will understand and appreciate the issues as we go forward,” he said.

Asked by the host, Dr. Randy Abbey why he will pick Dr. Bawumia over other candidates, he said with the experience garnered by the Vice President over the years, he will be able to turn the fate of the country for good.

“There is a whole conversation around Artificial Intelligence, internet of things, digitalization and all of these things that comes with it and I believe that the last few years in terms of the trajectory and the path that Vice President has actually tried to engineer in the public sector in terms of his policy positions in a number of things is something that I agree with,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has officially entered the New Patriotic Party presidential race, as members of his camp on Tuesday picked up a nomination form for him.
