Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) 2024 presidential candidate, has expressed his full satisfaction with the recently submitted report by Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye, describing it as “thorough, insightful, and a valuable contribution” to the party’s journey towards the 2028 general elections.
Speaking at the NPP headquarters in Accra on Wednesday, April 23, ahead of the party’s “Thank You Tour,” Dr. Bawumia lauded the findings and recommendations presented by the former Speaker of Parliament.
He emphasized that the report reflects a deep understanding of the party’s inner workings and provides a strategic roadmap to further strengthen its position as it prepares for the 2028 elections.
“I am happy with the work done by Professor Mike Oquaye. The report captures our party’s dynamics and outlines pragmatic steps for improvement,” Dr. Bawumia stated. “The findings align closely with our vision and values, and they will play a crucial role in guiding our strategy as we approach the general elections later this year.”
Professor Oquaye, who chaired a high-level committee tasked with reviewing the NPP’s internal structures and electoral performance, submitted the detailed report earlier this week. Dr. Bawumia assured the party leadership and supporters that the party would take the report’s recommendations seriously, promising to carefully study and implement proposals that would reinforce unity within the party and improve electoral performance.
“We are not taking this lightly. We will study the proposals carefully and implement those that will strengthen our unity and improve our performance,” Bawumia remarked, adding that the report would serve as a key instrument in shaping the party’s direction moving forward.
The submission of the report marks a significant milestone in the NPP’s preparations for the 2028 elections. Dr. Bawumia’s endorsement of Oquaye’s findings signals a commitment to ensuring that the party remains united and focused on its goals as it heads into what is expected to be a highly contested electoral battle.
