In his continued commitment to transparency and accountability, President John Dramani Mahama, during the swearing-in of the first batch of ministers on January 22, 2025, emphasized that his administration would take a strong stance on corruption.
He outlined measures to ensure that all appointees adhere to high ethical standards and urged them to begin the process of asset declaration as a key step toward building trust with the people of Ghana.
“We must be transparent and fair in all our dealings,” President Mahama asserted.
He highlighted that anti-corruption institutions would be empowered to investigate and take action against any government appointee who violates the law.
President Mahama made it clear that his government would hold everyone in positions of power to account, reinforcing the need for integrity in public office.
President Mahama instructed all ministers to declare their assets promptly.
“I expect all of you to begin the process of declaring your assets,” he said, underscoring the importance of transparency in ensuring that public officials act in the best interest of the people.
The Chief of Staff will announce a specific cut-off date by which all eligible appointees must submit their asset declaration forms to the Auditor General.
This move is part of broader efforts to maintain public confidence and combat corruption within the government.
Concluding his speech, President Mahama expressed his unwavering support for the new ministers, vowing to work alongside them in the interest of the Ghanaian people.
“I wish all of you good luck in your duties,” he said.
“I pledge to work with you and give you the needed support, myself and Naana Jane, in order to serve the people of Ghana to the best of our abilities.”
