A nine-year-old boy has drowned in a large gutter at Amongoase in Berekum after heavy rain in the area.
The boy, identified as Issah, is reported to have left home between 9pm and 10pm on Tuesday night after eating dinner.
According to his grandmother, popularly known as Mma Donkor, he was heading to his usual sleeping place when the incident happened.
Residents said the child slipped and fell into the flooded gutter during the downpour. He reportedly cried out for help, but rescuers were unable to save him.
The Ghana National Fire Service was called to the scene, but officials could not rescue the boy in time.
His body has since been deposited at the morgue of the Holy Family Hospital for preservation and further investigations.
