Bibiani GoldStars secured their first-ever Ghana Premier League title with a 4-0 win over Accra Lions at the Duns Park. Abdul Farouk Amoaful, Kelvin Oppong, Samuel Attah Kumi, and Frank Amankwah scored the goals which powered GoldStars to the title and also condemned Accra Lions to relegation to the Division One League.
GoldStars’ triumph marks them as the eighth different champion in the last eight completed Premier League seasons.
Meanwhile, Nations FC squandered their title hopes after a 2-0 defeat to Heart of Lions at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex on the final day. Samuel Boamah Quansah and Asante Sedorf scored in each half to hand Lions the win.
The result leaves Nations in second place as they await a ruling from the GFA Disciplinary Committee regarding their suspended fixture against Basake Holy Stars. Heart of Lions finish a strong season in third place.
Asante Kotoko fell to a 3-1 defeat against Vision FC at the Nii Kraku Adjei II Sports Complex but still managed a top-four finish. Kotoko led at halftime courtesy of an own goal by Lord Xorse Kudzinya, but Vision responded with a goal from Edmond Asante and a brace by Frank Duku to complete a comeback.
Hearts of Oak wrapped up their campaign with a 1-0 win over FC Samartex 1996 at the Accra Sports Stadium. Konadu Yiadom scored the only goal in the 57th minute. Despite finishing level on 58 points with rivals Kotoko, Hearts miss out on a top-four finish due to an inferior goal difference, placing them fifth.
At the Nana Fosu Gyeabor Park, Bechem United edged Young Apostles 1-0 thanks to a second-half penalty converted by Baba Moro Abdulai. Bechem ended the season in 10th, while Young Apostles finished 14th, ensuring their top-flight survival for another season.
Dreams FC capped off their season with an emphatic 4-1 win over already relegated Legon Cities in Tuba. Jonathan Nemorden bagged a brace, with Joseph Esso and Suraj Seidu also on the scoresheet before Albert Adomah pulled one back for the Royals. Dreams FC finished sixth, recording their highest-ever league finish and points total (52).
Medeama SC suffered a 2-1 home loss to Berekum Chelsea at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa. After a goalless first half, Vincent Klu Adjei opened the scoring for Chelsea three minutes after the restart. Kingsley Braye equalized for Medeama in the 72nd minute, but Kofi Ansu Patrick scored the winner for Chelsea in the 86th minute. Medeama ended the season in eighth place, while Chelsea placed 12th.
Aduana FC closed the season with a 3-1 victory over Basake Holy Stars in Dormaa. Goals from Richard Tetteh, Emmanuel Marfo, and Alex Boakye sealed the win, while Francis Obeng scored the consolation for Holy Stars. Despite the loss, Holy Stars avoided relegation, while Aduana ended the campaign in ninth place.
