Binduri: Presiding member beaten to a pulp

The presiding member for Binduri District Assembly, Samuel Azure, has been hospitalised following an assault on him by some supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The youth pounced on him and knocked his lights out after the Binduri District Assembly members failed to approve President John Dramani Mahama’s District Chief Executive nominee for the area.

The nominee, Martin Ariku, obtained 8 votes out of a total votes of 17, with 9 members voting against him which translated into his rejection by the assembly members.

The results angered the party footsoldiers, especially supporters of the nominee, who pounced on the presiding member and beat him up, accusing him of being the mastermind for the rejection.

He was rushed to the Restoration Hospital in Zebilla following the attack and is currently on admission.
