Black Galaxies see off Togo in CHAN qualifier preparatory game

Ghana’s local national team, the Black Galaxies recorded a 2-0 win over Togo in an international friendly on Wednesday December 11, 2024 at the Stade de Kegue in Lome, Togo.

Asante Kotoko forward Albert Amoah opened the scoring in the 3rd minute before Yakubu Issah of Basake HolyStars made it 2-0 in the 27th minute.

The friendly game forms part for the team’s preparations for the 2024 CHAN qualifiers against Nigeria this month. The first leg is set for Sunday, December 22, and the return leg on Saturday, December 28 in Nigeria.

Ghana previously eliminated Nigeria to qualify for the last CHAN tournament in Algeria, winning in a penalty shootout after a 2-2 aggregate score.

The winner of this two-legged tie will earn a spot in the CHAN 2024 tournament set to be hosted in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania next year.

The CHAN tournament is specifically for players competing in their home countries.
