Head coach of Ghana’s Black Starlets, Prosper Narteh Ogum, has pushed back against long-standing perceptions that he is quick-tempered and difficult to work with.
Speaking in an interview with Michael Kofi Oduro on Metro TV’s Sports , Ogum clarified that his coaching and leadership style is rooted in honesty and direct communication, not anger or aggression.
“I’m not quick-tempered. I’m just straightforward. I say things as they are,” Ogum said. “Unfortunately, some football administrators in Ghana always want to have their way, and that creates friction when a coach stands his ground.”
Ogum, who previously coached Asante Kotoko, has often been described by some club officials and former players as hard to work with — a label he now says is both exaggerated and misunderstood.
He suggested that the power dynamics in Ghanaian football often put coaches in a difficult position, especially when they maintain professional boundaries and standards.
“When you insist on structure and discipline, people think you’re being difficult,” he added.
