Black Stars Await AFCON 2027 Draw on May 19

Ghana will discover their opponents for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on May 19, 2026, after CAF confirmed the date for the official draw.

The qualifiers will take place between September 2026 and March 2027, with 48 nations divided into 12 groups of four teams each. The top two teams from every group will qualify for the tournament.

The 2027 AFCON finals are scheduled to run from June 19 to July 17, 2027, and will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda in a historic East African partnership.

For Ghana, the campaign presents an opportunity to return to the continental stage after missing out on the previous tournament in Morocco. The Black Stars will be determined to book their place and restore their reputation as one of Africa’s football powerhouses.

Ghana have won the AFCON title four times, but their last triumph came in 1982, giving the team extra motivation ahead of the qualification journey.
