Black Stars Close In on World Cup Spot With 5-0 Win Over CAR

The Black Stars of Ghana put on an electrifying performance to thrash the Central African Republic 5-0 in their latest World Cup Qualifier at the Stade d’Honneur de Meknes in Morocco.

The dominant victory sees Ghana inch ever closer to securing a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with only one game left to play in Group I.

The match was barely 20 minutes old when Mohammed Salisu broke the deadlock, rising above the defense to power home a header from a perfectly delivered corner by Mohammed Kudus. The goal set the tone for what was to become a relentless attacking display.

Ghana’s midfield maestro, Thomas Partey, was in scintillating form throughout the game, dictating play and providing the necessary balance to the side. In the 50th minute, he doubled Ghana’s lead, finishing coolly from close range after a well-weighted assist from Jordan Ayew.

In the 69th minute, it was the turn of Alexander Djiku to get on the scoresheet, heading home a pinpoint cross from Ayew. Just three minutes later, Leicester City’s Djiku turned provider as he scored his second goal of the match, finishing past the Central African Republic goalkeeper with ease to make it 4-0.

With the match well beyond reach for the Central African Republic, Ghana sealed the rout in the dying moments. Kamaldeen Sulemana, who came on as a substitute, capped a stunning performance with a goal of his own, finishing with composure after a brilliant assist from Joseph Paintsil. It was Sulemana’s first international goal, marking a memorable moment for the young star.

The emphatic 5-0 win means that Ghana now sits comfortably atop Group I, and a positive result in their final game against Comoros in Accra could seal their place in next year’s World Cup.
