Black Stars Head Coach Otto Addo made it clear that when it comes to selecting players for Ghana’s national football team, performance on the field outweighs fame or name recognition.
He said this during an interview with Gideon Okyere Anim (Gattuso) on Metro TV.
“Playing for the Black Stars isn’t about who you are or how famous your name is. It’s about how well you perform on the pitch,” Addo said during the interview, emphasizing his commitment to merit-based selection.
According to the coach, his focus has always been on choosing players who bring their best to every match, rather than favoring individuals based on past accolades or popularity.
Addo’s philosophy aims to build a more competitive, meritocratic squad for Ghana, where every player has the chance to prove themselves, regardless of their reputation.
This approach, he believes, ensures that only the most deserving players wear the iconic Black Stars jersey.
