BoG’s First Deputy Governor Dr. Maxwell Opoku-Afari proceeds on leave

First Deputy Governor of Bank of Ghana, Dr. Maxwell Opoku-Afari, will proceed on leave from February 5, 2025, ahead of the expiration of his contract.

This decision has received the approval of President John Dramani Mahama.

The Communications Department of the Bank of Ghana disclosed in a statement dated February 4, 2025.

Dr. Opoku-Afari has had a distinguished career, serving two four-year terms as First Deputy Governor since his appointment on August 7, 2017.

His tenure is set to officially end on August 6, 2025, in line with the Bank of Ghana Act, 2002 (Act 612).

During his time at the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Opoku-Afari has played a crucial role in shaping the country’s monetary policy.

His expertise and experience have been invaluable assets to the institution.

The Bank of Ghana in the statement expressed its gratitude to Dr. Opoku-Afari for his dedicated service.

“The Bank of Ghana thanks Dr. Opoku-Afari for his service to the Bank and the Republic and wishes him well in his future endeavors”
