Book of condolence and global vigil announced for Daddy Lumba

The family of the late Charles Kwadwo Fosu, celebrated as Daddy Lumba, has opened a book of condolence and called on supporters worldwide to join a global candlelight vigil in his honour.

The book of condolence will be available daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m on Tuesday, 29 July, at the late singer’s private residence on Kinshasha Crescent, house number 12. Well wishers, colleagues and supporters are invited to sign the book and share their memories of a man whose melodies shaped generations.

On Saturday, 2 August, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., a candlelight vigil will take place at Independence Square in Accra.

The ceremony forms part of a global tribute organised by the Creative Arts Agency, running concurrently in Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States and the Netherlands.

Attendees are asked to celebrate the power of Daddy Lumba’s music while respecting the family’s privacy during this time of grief.

Lawyer Fati Ali Yallah, speaking on behalf of the Fosu family, thanked the public for their outpouring of love and support.

She said details of the final funeral arrangements will be shared in due course, and expressed deep gratitude to everyone who has stood by them in this difficult period.

Daddy Lumba’s artistry and songs continue to inspire generations across Ghana and beyond.
