Breaking: Fire breaks out at Circle VVIP station

A fire outbreak has occurred at the Circle VVIP bus terminal in Accra, causing panic among commuters and traders in the area.

The blaze, which broke out in the early hours, is reported to have affected parts of the busy transport hub, sending thick plumes of smoke into the sky and disrupting commercial and transport activities around Circle.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) were swiftly deployed to the scene and managed to bring the fire under control after several minutes of firefighting efforts.

Although the exact cause of the fire is yet to be officially determined, eyewitnesses say the fire may have started from one of the commercial sections of the station.

No casualties have been confirmed at this stage, but several properties, including shops and station infrastructure, are feared to have been destroyed.

Some commuters were stranded temporarily as buses were unable to operate while emergency services worked to secure the area.
