Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon and farmer, John Dumelo, has made a passionate appeal to Ghanaians to patronize made-in-Ghana chicken, saying it has the potential to transform the local economy.
According to him, if 1,000,000 Ghanaians consume locally produced chicken monthly, it would create a massive demand, leading to the growth of small-scale farms.
“That’s an average of 1000 small scale farms producing 1000 birds per month,” he noted in a post on social media.
Mr. Dumelo believes the ripple effect of this patronage would be immense, as it would encourage maize farmers to cultivate more to supply the poultry farms.
This, he argues, would eventually lead to a reduction in the importation of frozen chicken.
“We can make this work. It’s achievable,” he emphasized.
“Have you purchased your made in Ghana chicken today?” John Dumelo quizzed.
