A disagreement over a local football team has ended the life of a 42-year-old driver at Gomoa Osamkrom in the Central Region.
David Mensah, popularly known as Pepper Soup, was allegedly killed by a close friend, Michael Boye, also called Ato, after a heated argument at a drinking spot at the suspect’s residence.
According to police sources, Mensah had visited Boye’s house to have a drink when the two began arguing about the management of a local football team in Osamkrom.
The dispute centred on whether the team’s founder was still in charge. Mensah maintained that the founder remained at the helm, while Boye strongly disagreed.
Witnesses say tensions rose during the exchange, prompting Mensah to leave the scene. As he turned to walk away, Boye is alleged to have struck him with a log. Mensah later died from the attack.
Boye fled after the incident and is currently on the run. Police have arrested his mother and some relatives to assist with investigations as efforts continue to locate the suspect.
