A 26-year-old hunter, Emmanuel Donkoh, has been arrested and charged with murder concerning the death of his colleague in the Kakum forest reserve in the Central Region.
The shocking crime has shaken the community of Assin Seidukrom in Assin South District of the Central.
The deceased, Kwaku Aboagye, 57, disappeared after embarking on a hunting expedition with the suspect in the Assin Seidukrom area of the Kakum Forest Reserve on January 26, 2024.
After receiving a tip that Emmanuel was with him, a team of police officers led by Detective Corporal Nii Armah Ashitey arrested the suspect.
Initially, suspect Emmanuel denied knowing the deceased’s whereabouts, but after intense interrogation he confessed to killing the deceased during the expedition.
He subsequently led police to the forest, where they found Aboagye’s carcass, identified by his distinctive clothing: wellington boots, a black T-shirt, and black trousers.
The motive behind the killing is yet to be established, but police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic event and have charged Emmanuel with murder.
