The Concerned Citizens of Yendi (CCY) has honoured transformational individuals and state institutions in the Yendi Municipality at its 3rd edition of the Citizens Honour of Excellence and Selfless Awards.
The awards recognize individuals and institutions that have made significant contributions to the growth and development of the municipality through selfless services.
Awardees included health practitioners, police officers, and other individuals who have distinguished themselves in their line of duty.
Speaking at the event, a representative of CCY said the awards were given to individuals and institutions that have demonstrated patriotism, selflessness, passion, and transformation in their work.
Madam Ruth Mahama, a midwife at the Yendi Municipal Hospital, was awarded for her exceptional work in ensuring safe delivery for pregnant women in the municipality.
Professor Alhassan Seidu, Vice-Chancellor of the University for Development Studies (UDS), commended the organizers for recognizing hardworking individuals and institutions in the Yendi area.
He emphasized the importance of education in building the community and noted that inequality and challenges in the educational sector must be addressed.
The event was attended by dignitaries, including the Overlord of Dagbon and the Divisional Police Commander for Yendi.
