Central Region NDC to petition military over transfer of votes

The Central Regional branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed concern over the transfer of votes of 71 military officers to the Efutu Constituency, alleging it is a ploy to intimidate its members during the December 7 elections.

Professor Richard Kofi Asiedu, Central Regional Chairman of the NDC, addressing the media in Kasoa, said the party has the names of all 71 military officers and will submit a petition to the military high command to ensure their names are expunged from the Efutu Constituency voters register.

He also expressed concern over the transfer of the Efutu District Electoral Officer, Ama Akotuah, and alleged that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is conniving with the Electoral Commission (EC) to identify dead voters and have them registered for proxy voting.

The NDC has also expressed disappointment with the Police’s handling of the violence that occurred at the Kasoa EC office on Sunday, June 2, 2024, and alleged that only NDC members have been arrested despite the NPP’s defiance of modalities accepted by both parties and the Police.
