Abass Nurudeen, Chief Executive Officer of the Social Investment Fund, has praised the Mahama administration’s allocation of funds toward free primary healthcare at the basic level.

Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana programme hosted by Moro Awudu on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, Nurudeen described the initiative as a “bold and transformative step” aimed at making essential healthcare accessible to every Ghanaian family.

“We must commend the Mahama-led funds for this visionary policy,” he emphasized, highlighting how it addresses longstanding barriers to basic medical services in underserved communities.

The Free Primary Healthcare policy represents a major shift in Ghana’s healthcare landscape, officially launching on April 15, 2026.

Nurudeen pointed to the Social Investment Fund’s role in channeling resources to grassroots levels, ensuring rapid implementation.

“This isn’t just funding ,it’s a lifeline for the vulnerable, reducing out-of-pocket expenses that have kept many from seeking timely care,” he said.
