Residents of Opeikuma in Kasoa have been left in shock after the discovery of a charred body of a toddler at a refuse site.
The baby’s remains were found wrapped in a rubber bag and dumped near a school wall in Kumbe, a suburb of Opeikuma.
According to eyewitnesses, the refuse collectors had unknowingly dropped the bag at the refuse site, where it was later discovered after the refuse had burned for a while.
Alhassan Abdul Razak, an eyewitness and community member, told Metro News that the baby was already dead before the fire was set.
The police have been notified and the remains of the baby have been conveyed for preservation. Community leaders, including Sule Siisey, Chairman of the Krispol City Unit Committee, have pledged to assist the police in investigations to identify the parents of the baby and ensure they face the law.
The incident has sparked outrage and sadness in the community, with many calling for justice for the baby.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of death and identify the parents of the baby.
