The special prayer session took place on Friday at the National Mosque in Accra, where officials of the Black Star Balloon Tour joined worshippers and football enthusiasts in seeking divine blessings for the team and the initiative.
The Chief Imam prayed for unity, protection, and success for the Black Stars while also blessing the Black Star Balloon, which has become a symbol of national pride and support for Ghana football.
The National Mosque activation marks another significant milestone in the build-up to the regional tour, which aims to rally Ghanaians behind the Black Stars while promoting patriotism and national unity through football. Organisers described the Chief Imam’s prayers and endorsement as a major boost for the campaign ahead of its journey across the country.
The Black Star Balloon Tour began the week with a mini activation on Wednesday at the Ghana Tourism Authority and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, where stakeholders signed the balloon and pledged their support for the Black Stars. The initiative continued on Thursday with successful stops at the Judicial Service of Ghana and Bayport Financial Services, attracting enthusiastic participation from staff and visitors.
Attention now turns to the final activation stop at the Presidency, where President John Dramani Mahama is expected to append his signature to the Black Star Balloon and offer his blessings to both the Black Stars and the nationwide tour. The occasion is expected to serve as a fitting climax to the Accra phase of the campaign before the balloon begins its regional journey.
