Chief Imam willing to engage with Owusu Bempah any day — Spokesperson

The spokesperson of the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Aremeyaw Shaibu, says the Chief Imam is ready to welcome the head pastor of the Glorious Word Power Ministries International Reverend Isaac Owusu Bempah to his presence for a conversation if need be.

Speaking on News Night on Metro TV, Sheikh Aremeyaw Shaibu emphasized the need for religious tolerance and expressed the readiness of the Islamic leader to engage the outspoken preacher when he calls on him.

“I am the spokesperson of the Chief Imam and understand the spirit of the Chief Imam. Any day, any hour if Rev. Owusu Bempah decides that he wants to engage with Chief Imam without fear of any contradiction the door will be opened for him to come,” he said on Thursday.

“Chief Imam is a very forgiving person. His whole spirit is about peace, service, giving hope to the hopeless, the needy and by giving care to the less fortunate of the society,” he stressed.

He further noted that the Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr Osman Nuhu Sharubutu is a “unifier that is why probably, that is why you find the content of the release because he, himself, did not write it.”

He explained that the strongly worded press release is due to “the line between the Chief Imam and his administration and so those words that came out do not go with the script of the eminent Chief Imam because he loves to forgive. But those of us surrounding him sometimes our sentiment can be touched because of how we revere and respect him.  It can be understood but this one came within the administration.”

This comment comes after Rev Owusu Bempah is alleged to have claimed that the National Chief Imam seeks spiritual protection from him.

The said allegation was said to have been made on Saturday, December 31, 2022, during his church’s watch night service.

Meanwhile, the Glorious Word Power Ministries International has refuted claims in the media that its founder and leader, Reverend Owusu Bempah has said the National Chief Imam visits him for spiritual protection and guidance.

According to the church, such reportage is untrue and borne out of malice.

In a press statement issued on Thursday, January 5, it said the publication is calculated to temper with the cordial relationship between Sheikh Ousman Nuhu Sharubutu and Reverend Owusu Bempah.
