The Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) has cleared Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng, Secretary to the National Cathedral Board of Trustees, of allegations of conflict of interest.
This comes after the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, petitioned CHRAJ in January 2023, accusing Rev Kusi Boateng of holding two passports with different names and engaging in other alleged criminal dealings.
However, CHRAJ’s investigations revealed that Rev Kusi Boateng holds only one passport with the name Kwabena Adu Gyamfi, contrary to the allegations.
The Commission also found that the transfer of GH¢2.6 million from the National Cathedral Secretariat to JNS Talent Centre Limited, owned by Rev Kusi Boateng, was not a case of conflict of interest.
According to CHRAJ, Rev Kusi Boateng had offered to pay contractors of the National Cathedral due to the project’s poor financial standing at the time.
Meanwhile, CHRAJ has recommended an investigation and possible prosecution of the National Cathedral Board of Trustees.
The Commission has also called for a forensic audit into the construction of the National Cathedral project and the cancellation of the contract with Ribade Company Limited, citing breaches of the Public Procurement Act.
