The Chairman of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG) Election Committee, Harrison Abutiate, has called on all members to invigorate the marketing sector to foster economic growth in Ghana. Speaking with the media after the successful conclusion of the CIMG elections, Abutiate emphasized the critical role marketing plays in economic development. He stated, “If marketing is taken seriously, it’ll help boost Ghana’s economy.”
On Thursday, 13 February 2025, the CIMG held elections at the Coconut Grove Hotel in Accra to elect new officers for the next two years to steer the institute’s affairs. The elections saw Michael Abbiw, the lead consultant and CEO of MGA Consulting Limited, elected as the National President, and Ama Gifty Amoah, a seasoned marketing professional, elected as the National Vice President.
Other elected National Executives include National Secretary-Elect Edwin Letsa K. Kpedor and National Treasurer-Elect Francis Mensah Sasraku. Additionally, the newly elected Council Members are Hilda Peasah, Norrender Wordie Debrah, and Kwasi Kyere.
The announcement was met with enthusiasm from the marketing community, with many congratulating the newly elected officers. “We are excited to welcome our new leaders and we are confident that their expertise and vision will propel the Institute to greater heights,” stated a communiqué accompanying the Electoral Commission’s results.
The marketing body extended its appreciation to all candidates who participated in the election and to the voters for their active engagement and dedication to shaping the future of marketing in Ghana.
The new executives are expected to assume their roles in the coming weeks. As the Institute moves forward, all eyes will be on the fresh leadership as they work to advance the goals of CIMG and strengthen its influence in the marketing sector both locally and internationally.
