The Chief Executive of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), Dr. Ransford Abbey, began his three-day working tour of the Western North and Western South cocoa-growing regions with a visit to cocoa farmers in Atronsu, a community in the Bekwai District.
Dr. Abbey’s visit is part of COCOBOD’s broader strategy to strengthen ties with cocoa-producing communities, understand farmer concerns on the ground, and assess the implementation of key cocoa sector initiatives.
During the engagement, the COCOBOD CEO interacted directly with cocoa farmers, listening to their challenges and sharing updates on ongoing government interventions aimed at boosting cocoa productivity, improving farmer welfare, and promoting sustainable farming practices.
“This tour is an opportunity for me to connect directly with the heartbeat of our cocoa industry—you, the farmers,” Dr. Abbey said. “We are committed to ensuring that your hard work is rewarded and that the cocoa sector continues to thrive.”
Farmers in Atronsu welcomed the visit and expressed appreciation for COCOBOD’s outreach efforts.
Dr. Abbey assured the farmers that their feedback would inform COCOBOD’s ongoing policy decisions and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to collaborating with all stakeholders in enhancing Ghana’s cocoa sector.
The tour will continue over the next two days, with stops scheduled in several key cocoa-producing communities across the Western North and Western South regions.
