Former Director of the Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII), Vitus Azeem, has commended President John Dramani Mahama for launching a Code of Conduct for his appointees.
However, Azeem believes the Code of Conduct bill should be brought before Parliament to ensure its comprehensive application.
“The Code of Conduct bill should be brought before Parliament,” Vitus Azeem told Annie Afua Ampofo on Metro TV’s Good Afternoon Ghana on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.
He argued that the bill covers all public officers, not just government appointees, and would provide a robust framework for accountability.
Vitus Azeem highlighted the potential for the Code of Conduct to be used as a tool for sanctioning public officers who flout its provisions.
He stressed the importance of passing the bill into law to strengthen Ghana’s governance framework.
The anti-corruption advocate indicated that the bill’s passage would also ensure that all public officers, regardless of their appointing authority, are held to the same standards of integrity and accountability.
