CPP Unity Drive: Ketu North Office Commissioned

The former Volta Regional Chairman and member of the National Council of Elders of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Prince Vincent Ahoadzro, has renewed calls for unity among the various Nkrumahist parties, stressing that only a united front can restore and advance the vision of Ghana’s first President, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

He observed that the fragmentation of the Nkrumahist tradition and the creation of splinter groups outside the CPP have weakened the party’s electoral fortunes since the advent of the Fourth Republic. “The disunity among Nkrumahists and the continuous formation of splinter parties outside the mother party have contributed to the poor performance of the CPP. We must put aside our differences and come together if we want to revive Nkrumah’s vision for national development,” Mr. Ahoadzro emphasized.

Mr. Ahoadzro made the remarks during the commissioning of a new Constituency Office of the CPP in Ketu North, an event which also coincided with activities marking the 116th birthday anniversary of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

The commissioning, he explained, was part of efforts to rejuvenate grassroots structures of the CPP in the Volta Region, beginning with Ketu North, where the party is embarking on a reorganization drive to reconnect with the electorate ahead of the 2028 general elections.

Addressing the media after the ceremony, he reiterated his conviction that unity was the only path to ensuring that Dr. Nkrumah’s ideals of self-reliance, industrialization, and pan-African solidarity are restored to the center of Ghana’s development agenda.

On his part, Paul Nuwordu, a member of the CPP National Reorganization Committee, confirmed that the Volta Region is currently undergoing restructuring as part of a broader national effort to strengthen the CPP’s base. “We are reorganizing the party in the Volta Region to build a stronger foundation. This will enable us to mobilize effectively and present a united CPP that can contest power more competitively in the 2028 elections,” Mr. Nuwordu explained.

The reorganization in Ketu North forms part of a wider national restructuring program being rolled out by the CPP’s National Leadership to revive the fortunes of the party across Ghana, with a special focus on regions traditionally considered strongholds of the Nkrumahist movement.
