Cook Africa celebrates AU Day with flavour and fun on May 24 at Madina market

This year’s African Union Day celebration in Ghana is set to be spiced up with a vibrant culinary showdown dubbed Cook Africa AU Day Cookfest, taking place on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at Madina market.

Organised by IMG and the Graphic Communications Group, with support from Metro TV and other partners, the event will bring together food enthusiasts to celebrate Africa’s rich culinary heritage through fun, food, and cultural expression.

One of the highlights of the day will be a heated Jollof Rice Contest, reigniting the friendly rivalry between jollof lovers across the continent.

Contestants will showcase their best versions of the beloved West African dish, with the aim of winning not just bragging rights but also prizes and public acclaim.

Popular media personality, Counsellor George Lutterodt, is set to make a special guest appearance, adding flair and entertainment to the already flavourful event.

Supported by Gino and other brands, the event also aims to promote local ingredients, traditional cooking techniques, and unity across cultures through the universal language of food.
