Drivers should prepare to pay more for fuel from Wednesday.

The Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC) says prices of petrol, diesel and LPG will go up in the second pricing window of September.

The projection was released on September 13, 2026.

According to COPEC, petrol is expected to see a 4.24 percent increase, while diesel could go up by more than 10 percent. LPG is also set to rise to about GH¢15.32 per kilogramme.

COPEC says the main driver is what is happening on the international market. Crude oil moved from $89.30 to $103.07 per barrel within the period.

Refined products also shot up. Petrol on the international Free on Board market increased from $1,136.50 to $1,251.07 per metric tonne, a 10.08 percent jump. Diesel went from $1,250.50 to $1,404.73 per metric tonne, representing a 12.33 percent rise.

The increases come even though the cedi made some gains against the dollar. The local currency appreciated marginally from an average of GH¢11.5166 to GH¢11.4830 to one US dollar, about 0.29 percent.

With that factored in, COPEC projects petrol could sell at GH¢16.26 per litre at the pumps, up from the current average of GH¢15.60. Within a plus or minus 5 percent range, that would put petrol between GH¢15.44 and GH¢17.08 per litre.

Diesel is expected to record the sharpest increase. The chamber projects it could hit GH¢19.07 per litre, up from the current mean price of GH¢17.30. That is a 10.23 percent increase.
