President John Dramani Mahama says his administration will prioritize the well-being of all Ghanaians, not just a select few.
During his ongoing Central Regional tour, President Mahama said “We are not just going to build roads and schools, we are going to build a better future for our children, the next generation, and all posterity,” Mahama asserted.
“But we cannot do that without being accountable to the people who voted us into power.”
Central to Mahama’s vision is a promise to implement a strict system of accountability for all public office holders.
His commitment goes beyond merely scrutinizing the actions of former government officials.
According to President. Mahama, current office bearers will also be held to the same standards, ensuring that no one is exempt from the process of accountability.
“We are not just going to pursue members of the past regime; we’re going to pursue our own people to make sure they are held accountable to the people of Ghana,” Mahama stated firmly.
He further shared that his administration is set to introduce a “code of conduct” for those in positions of trust, which will guide ethical standards and governance.
In what he called the “operation Retrieve All the Loot,” Mahama made it clear that the focus will be on rooting out corruption, regardless of political affiliation.
In a concrete step forward, President Mahama revealed that an oral committee he had set up would soon present its findings.
“Next week, the oral committee that I set up is going to present its report to me. I will refer it to the investigative organizations to begin their work on the investigations of those who have misappropriated the resources of this nation,” Mahama declared.
His speech was met with resounding applause, as he reiterated that transparency, responsibility, and honesty will be the pillars of his administration’s approach to governance.
