Court frees accused in Ahmed Suale murder case after A-G drops charges

The Madina District Court has released the man accused of killing investigative journalist Ahmed Hussein Suale after the Attorney General’s Department dropped all charges against him.

The prosecution formally filed a notice to discontinue the case, prompting the court to discharge the accused. No official reason was immediately given for the Attorney General’s decision to abandon the case, which had faced several delays and legal hurdles over the years.

Suale, a member of the investigative team Tiger Eye PI led by Anas Aremeyaw Anas, was shot dead by unidentified men in Madina in January 2019. His murder followed months of threats after his involvement in undercover investigations exposing corruption in Ghanaian football and public life.
