The National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has launched a scathing attack on the Nana Addo-Bawumia administration, accusing them of mismanaging Ghana’s once-thriving economy and causing severe hardship for citizens.
During his submission on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana on Thursday, November 14, 2024, Sammy Gyamfi expressed his disdain for the governing New Patriotic Party’s economic policies, referencing Vice President Dr. Bawumia’s comment that if the fundamentals are weak, the exchange rate will expose you.
“If you look at the exchange rate, according to Bawumia, which is an important barometer for measuring the health of any economy, you have performed the poorest,” Gyamfi stated.
Sammy Gyamfi further lashed at the government, labeling it as “incompetent and “clueless” about economic management.
“You have demonstrated that you are incompetent, inept, and clueless about economic management. You should not even talk when we are talking about economic management. It should even be haram for you to talk about the economy, it should be a taboo.” he said.
The NDC chief communication scribe went on to highlight the struggles businesses face due to the rising exchange rate.
“If a businessman needed $10,000 in 2016 under John Mahama, what it means is that he only needed at most 42,000 cedis. Today, if he needs this same $10,000, it will cost him 170,000 cedis and over. In nominal terms, he has to cough up 128,000 cedis and over to get the same $10,000. You have no shame? You still want to insult our intelligence that this is better?” he quizzed.
