Dag Heward Mills breaks silence on his son’s death

The Founder and Presiding Bishop of the Lighthouse Group of Churches has spoken about the passing of his first son, David Heward-Mills.

Bishop Dag Heward-Mills encouraged Christians to be thankful and strong in the Lord’s things even in the face of suffering.

He stated that the Lord sometimes allows different situations to occur so that people might experience different colours of life or help them in their walk with the Lord and in leading others.

Bishop Dag, speaking about his son’s death, said he went through pain and occasionally saw multiple pictures of his son.

However, he stated that the scriptures predicted that those events would occur in order to strengthen the Christian.

He preached from Isaiah 40:1-3, the theme scripture, and indicated that the Lord comforts his children.

Dr. David Heward-Mills died in the United States at the age of 31 after a short illness.

At the time, his death was announced in a circular issued to members of the church.

“It is with deep regret and great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing away of David Heward-Mills, after a short illness. David was the first son of our Founder and Presiding Bishop.”

“We, also as a church, are heartbroken, however, we stand with our leader and his family and believe that God will comfort and see us through this very difficult season.”

“Please respect their privacy during this difficult time. Funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course,” the communication to church members read.

David worked as a resident physician at Prisma Health, Columbia in the United States of America, for almost two years.

He was a Research Physician at Shriners Hospitals for Children in Galveston.
