Dan Botwe appointed as caretaker Minister for Chieftaincy

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed Dan Botwe as the caretaker of Minister Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.

This follows the resignation of Ebenezer Kojo Kum, Member of Parliament for Ahanta West, as the sector minister.

Mr. Kojo Kum submitted his letter of resignation to the President on Friday, 3rd February 2023.

Dan Botwe is expected to occupy the position until a substantive minister is appointed.

This was announced in a statement signed by Eugene Arhin, the Director of Communications at the Office of the President on Friday, February 3, 2023.

“President Akufo-Addo thanked him for his services to the government and to the country, and wished him well in his future endeavours,” excerpts of the statement read.

In March 2022, speculation was rife that the Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ebenezer Kojo Kum, is dead.

Reacting to the development in an interview on Power FM on Wednesday (9 March), Issah Fuseini, the Western Regional Director of Communications for the NPP said the report is false.

“He is doing well,” Fuseini said. “I don’t know what people want to achieve with these reports.”

Asked when the NPP MP for Ahanta West will be returning to Parliament, Fuseini said, “I can’t tell when he is reporting to Parliament.”
