‘Daughter of a murderer, sit down’ – Unidentified MP attacks Dr. Zenator Rawlings in Parliament

A Member of Parliament launched unprovoked attacks on Dr. Zenator Agyeman-Rawlings in Parliament on February 4, 2025, during a discussion on the 60th anniversary of Joseph Boakye Danquah’s death.

Tamale Central lawmaker Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed had questioned the accuracy of praise heaped on JB Danquah by the Minority, sparking a heated debate in Parliament.

As the argument escalated, the presiding speaker, Lawyer Andrew Asiamah, stepped in, limiting further contributions to only leadership.

But suddenly Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, Korle-Klottey lawmaker, was shut down while attempting to contribute.

“Daughter of a murderer, sit down,” a voice yelled from the minority side, hurling insults at Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings.

“But there’s evidence her father killed people,” the yet-to-be-identified MP justified his ridiculous claims.

Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings, a medical doctor and politician, has been a Member of Parliament for the Klottey Korle constituency since 2017. Her father, Jerry John Rawlings, was a military leader and later president of Ghana who ruled from 1981 to 2001.

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, who was on the floor speaking, attempted to calm the situation, but the damage was done.

Meanwhile, the incident has angered some Ghanaians on social media, with many calling for the unidentified MP to be held accountable.
