The defamation lawsuits filed by gospel musician Empress Gifty Oppong Adorye against Evangelist Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, have been officially resolved following an out-of-court settlement involving a GH¢100,000 payment.
The agreement, reached on January 20, 2026, was adopted as a Consent Judgment by both the Tema Land Court and the Tema Main Court, effectively bringing an end to the two separate suits filed in May and June 2025.
Counsel for Nana Agradaa, Richard Asare Baffour, confirmed that the settlement marked a full and final resolution of the legal dispute, eliminating the need for a full trial and further court proceedings.
Empress Gifty had initiated the lawsuits after a series of social media publications by Evangelist Asiedua, which she described as defamatory and harmful to her personal and professional reputation as a gospel artiste.
In her claims, the award-winning singer sought GH¢40 million in damages for alleged slander and libel, along with a perpetual injunction to restrain further defamatory comments and the removal of the offending content from online platforms.
However, following negotiations, both parties agreed to an amicable settlement under which Nana Agradaa paid GH¢100,000 to cover legal fees and related costs, publicly retracted the statements, issued a formal apology, and requested assistance from the National Information Technology Agency (NITA) to facilitate the removal of the disputed publications.
Mr. Baffour confirmed that all settlement terms have been fully complied with, noting that the payment has been made and the apology rendered, adding that with the adoption of the Consent Judgments, Empress Gifty has formally withdrawn all claims, conclusively ending the high-profile defamation case.
