Embattled former National Signals Bureau (NSB) Director-General, Kwabena Adu-Boahene, has revealed questionable transactions, including a payment of GH¢960,000 to members of the Defence and Interior Committee as “allowances” for enacting the National Signals Bureau Act in 2020/2021.
In a confidential memo obtained by Metrotvonline.com, the Ex-NSB alleges that a GH¢309,000 was also paid to the Subsidiary Legislation Committee in 2024.
Furthermore, GH¢8.3 million was disbursed in September 2024 to provide an unnamed opposition party with communications equipment for election collation.
The memo also details other significant expenditures, including GH¢7.2 million for the December 2020 polls and GH¢6.7 million for the December 2024 elections.
Moreover, GH¢5.1 million was spent on luxury vehicles for a “Special Aide to the President-Elect” in December 2024.
Other notable transactions include GH¢9.5 million for cyber surveillance solutions and GH¢6.9 million for Operation Conquered Fist counter-terrorism efforts between 2020-2024.
Adu-Boahene, who is currently detained by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO), maintains that these were legitimate national security expenditures.
He has been charged with corruption offenses to the tune of GH¢49 million, along with his wife and two others.
