Veteran journalist Kwesi Pratt Jnr has challenged the opposition New Patriotic Party to prove to Ghanaians that it can govern more effectively than the ruling National Democratic Congress administration.
Speaking on Wednesday’s edition of Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV, the former Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper said the New Patriotic Party must move beyond criticism and show clear alternatives to the policies of the governing National Democratic Congress.
In a straightforward appeal, Mr Pratt said the NPP needs to demonstrate that it can do better than the current government. He argued that simply pointing out shortcomings is not enough to win public confidence.
According to him, the party appears too comfortable in opposition and risks losing relevance if it does not present concrete and convincing policy proposals.
He urged the party, often symbolised by the elephant, to clearly outline what it would do differently in key areas such as job creation, education and the fight against corruption.
Mr Pratt suggested that while the NPP may have fresh ideas, it must show greater conviction and clarity in communicating them to the electorate.
His comments come at a time when the NPP has stepped up its criticism of the administration of President John Dramani Mahama, intensifying the political debate ahead of future elections.
