Dennis Miracles Aboagye, spokesperson for former Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign team, has reportedly been arrested at the Accra International Airport by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) in connection with ongoing investigations into alleged corruption.
Mr Aboagye, who previously served as Chief Executive Officer of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCC), is said to have been taken into custody as part of investigations into multiple alleged corruption cases linked to his time in office.
According to claims circulating in a post on X, EOCO is investigating allegations that he misappropriated millions of cedis while serving as head of the IMCC. The post did not provide further details about the allegations or the specific offences being investigated.
The reported arrest comes shortly after Mr Aboagye publicly declared his intention to contest for the position of National Communications Director of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
EOCO has not yet issued an official statement on the reported arrest, and Mr Aboagye has not publicly responded to the allegations. The claims remain under investigation.
