Former Member of Parliament for Kumbungu, Ras Mubarak, has expressed strong concerns over the recent decision by National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah to embark on a ‘Thank You Tour.’
In a statement posted on his Facebook page, Mubarak argued that such tours should be led by presidential or parliamentary candidates in collaboration with party executives after an election victory, not by the party chairman.
According to Mubarak, this move breaks with NDC’s historical practices and sets a dangerous precedent. “Never throughout NDC’s history has a National Chairman, after an NDC victory, decided to go on a ‘Thank You Tour’ apart from what the flag bearer and the party leadership have organized. This is an unnecessary distraction and a potential threat to the unity and focus of the government,” Mubarak stated.
Mubarak, who served as MP for Kumbungu, also highlighted that the timing of the tour could fuel speculation about Asiedu Nketiah’s future political ambitions.
“Nobody must be allowed to hide under a ‘Thank You Tour’ to advance their premature presidential ambitions. It’s intolerable,” he added.
The former MP’s statement comes amid growing tensions within the party, with many questioning whether the chairman’s actions could divide the party and detract from the NDC’s broader political agenda.
