Guan lawmaker Fred Agbenyo has come to the defense of the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, praising its potential to foster unity among Ghanaians.
He said the corporate prayer has the power to bring people together and should not be belittled.
Making an appearance on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana, Guan MP Fred Agbenyo emphasized the importance of planning and utilizing holidays productively.
“Don’t view holidays as days to just rest and relax,” he advised.
“You can plan economic activity around a holiday. That can equally bring development in the nation.”
His comments come amid a growing debate about the role of holidays in Ghana’s development, especially replacing the Republic Day with the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving.
While some have questioned the relevance of certain holidays, Fred Agbenyo believes that with proper planning, these days can be leveraged for economic gain.
“We need to sit back and think about how we can use these holidays to drive development,” he said.
“People have different perspectives, but the point is to find ways to make the most of these days. Whether it’s planting trees or engaging in other economic activities, we should strive to make our holidays productive.”
