Former Vice President and 2024 New Patriotic Party presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has appointed all four former presidential aspirants who contested against him in the party’s flagbearer race as co chairs of various NPP policy committees.
The appointments are being seen as a move to strengthen party unity and bring together key figures ahead of the next general election campaign.
Former Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, has been named co chair of the Employment and Jobs Policy Committee, while Abetifi MP, Bryan Acheampong, will serve as co chair of the Defence and Interior Policy Committee.
Former Education Minister, Yaw Osei Adutwum, has been appointed co chair of the Education Policy Committee.
Meanwhile, former NPP General Secretary, Kwabena Agyei Agyapong, will co chair the Housing and Urban Development Policy Committee.
All four men contested Dr Bawumia during the NPP presidential primaries before he emerged as the party’s flagbearer.
The latest appointments are expected to play a key role in shaping the party’s policy direction ahead of the 2028 elections and help rebuild internal cohesion after the primaries.
