Dr. Frank Owusu-Sekyere has been appointed as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, effective October 6, 2024.
He takes over from Dr. Opoku Ware Ampomah, whose four-year tenure ended on October 5, 2024.
According to a statement from the hospital’s management, Dr. Owusu-Sekyere’s extensive experience and deep commitment to healthcare make him an excellent choice to lead the hospital during this transitional period.
“Dr. Owusu-Sekyere is committed to addressing the challenges that hinder the seamless delivery of care to patients and to improving the welfare of staff,” the statement read.
A distinguished Paediatrician, Dr. Owusu-Sekyere previously served as Unit Head of the Rebecca Akufo-Addo Paediatric Intensive Care Unit and Director of Medical Affairs of KBTH in 2023.
He also teaches part-time at the University of Ghana Medical School and the Accra College of Medicine.
With a wealth of experience in various positions within the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, the Ghana Medical Association, and the West African College of Physicians, Dr. Owusu-Sekyere is well-positioned to guide the hospital forward.
“As an alumnus of the University of Ghana Medical School, Class of 2002, Dr. Owusu-Sekyere has devoted much of his career to Korle Bu, apart from a few years spent in training abroad,” the statement added.
